Moixaina comes to life from an essential idea:
to turn wellbeing into architecture.
Located at Hotel Llop Gris, at the foot of the mountains of El Tarter, the project is conceived as a refuge where time slows down and the experience turns inward.
But its origin is not neutral.
It is a transformation.
The challenge was to intervene on an existing space, deeply conditioned by its structure and services, to completely rebuild its logic. Reordering the programme, redefining routes, and bringing coherence to a complex whole, without that complexity being perceptible.
Architecture does not show itself.It is perceived.
The layout is organised as a continuous sequence, where the user moves between different atmospheres. Pools of different temperatures, whirlpool areas, hammam, sauna, salt rooms, and relaxation areas are integrated into a fluid journey. To this system, treatment rooms are added that connect with multi-purpose spaces designed for yoga, wellbeing, and group activities.
Space is understood as an experience.
Not as a sum of functions.
Geometry shapes this perception.
The floor plans develop from curved and organic forms, eliminating angles and creating a spatial continuity that evokes water. Everything flows. Everything connects. The architecture becomes enveloping, open, almost liquid.
In contrast, the ceiling resolves the complexity.
Conditioned by an irregular existing structure and limited heights, it is designed as a system of planes, levels, and backlighting that order the space and amplify its perception. It is not a formal gesture, but a precise response that transforms limitation into opportunity.
Light accompanies in silence.
Always indirect, always integrated, it builds a contained atmosphere where perception becomes slower, deeper. The ceiling becomes both a lighting and spatial support at the same time.
Materiality reinforces this experience.
Stone, timber, and acoustic cladding configure a warm, balanced, and sustainable environment. Honest materials that dialogue with the Pyrenean landscape and provide sensory comfort, absorbing sound and softening the experience.
Space opens up from introspection.
It does not seek the outside; it evokes it.
Moixaina is not just a SPA.
It is a system of wellbeing.
A place where architecture transforms a complex technical condition into a fluid experience, where geometry eliminates boundaries, and where light, matter, and water build a new way of inhabiting rest.
